General Students and Teacher:

Congratulations and Thank you to all the CTSO --DECA, FCCLA and HOSA students and teachers who brought back the awards and Board Positions to Moanalua High! -
Once again our students represented Moanalua well. Three students on the HOSA Board, an outgoing and incoming President form Moanalua High as well as many category awards! DECA award winners were sent out by Fred Ito. Special thanks to Lynne Hashizume, Faith Shinagawa, Fred Ito, Sharon Majors, Joanne Yonamine and Kelly Calistro for helping prepare the students. I'm sure I forgot someone and I apologize!

Lock Down Drill- Thank you to everyone who complied with all of the directions sent out by Mr. Suapaia. There were some who did not close windows and at least one who opened the door when the handle was jiggled by the Police. Yes, we had real police officers on campus evaluating how it went. We learned some things and will make a few revisions to our crisis plan. Special thank you to Joshua Suapaia for putting the plan into action. I hope that it wasn't too disruptive, but it truly is important.

Thank you to the Music Department for another outstanding Central District Honor Band performance!

Tentative Master Schedule is posted and the first Transfer Posting (TATP1) should be out as of February 27. If you are planning to apply for posted positions, you need to complete a 101B and have me sign it. Probationary 6 teachers must apply for their posted position at Moanalua if they wish to stay in their position.

2015 Kinaole Awards Dinner will honor outstanding representatives and supporters of Moanalua High School and our school community. The important PTSA fundraising dinner and silent auction will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Honolulu Country Club beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please save that date on your calendars! This year we will honor Mock Trial advisors Brian Chang and David Suzuki as well as former Moanalua Class Advisors Sharon Mahoe and Ray Fujii. This is always such a memorable night filled with the spirit that makes Moanalua High School so special. Please plan to attend and honor our recipients. All proceeds go to raise funds for our students, teachers, and important school needs. For tickets or to make donations, please call chairperson Andrea Iwamoto at 221-7448 or email mohs.kinaole@gmail.com

Foodland Shop For Higher Education

It's that time of year again! The annual Foodland Shop for Higher Education Program will run from February 4 to March 17. All you need to do is show your Foodland or Sack 'n' Save Maika'i Card to any cashier and give our school code: 7475. Once you give the code, you need not do so any other time as you will automatically be registered. If you do not have a Maika'i card, simply go to the information booth and get one. It's FREE! Then, every time you purchase something from Foodland or Sack 'n' Save, Moanalua will receive points. If we collect enough points, we will receive one $2000 scholarship. If we are in the top 20 statewide, we receive another scholarship. In fact, the higher we go, the more scholarships we can get. Historically, Moanalua places around 35th or 36th every year. Let's try to improve on that and at least get into the top 20!- S. Pang

Spring Food Drive
It's that time of year again! Moanalua has always been generous with food donations, and with the poor economy, even more people will be looking for assistance. You can do your share by bring canned foods, dry noodles or bags of rice to your homeroom between now and March 5. Also, monetary donations are accepted. Every fifty-cents will count as one item. Remember, you will be helping others less fortunate and, this is also a class competition! All donations must be brought to the back of the library by the end of CAP on March 5.- S. Pang
